One pet dead, residents displaced in Coeur d’Alene house fire

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – One pet was found dead in a house fire in Coeur d’Alene, with the residents of the house displaced as well.

The Coeur d’Alene Fire Department (CDA Fire) responded to a house fire call on Saturday night, May 18.

CDA Fire reported that upon their arrival, the residents were not at home, but one dog was found dead. Additionally, CDA Fire officials stated that two dogs and two cats had fled during the fire and were still missing.

CDA Fire, Northern Lakes Fire District, and Kootenai Fire and Rescue collaborated to extinguish the fire, though the house sustained significant damage.

Fire crews anticipate that the residents will likely be displaced.

The CDA Fire Department said that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
