SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane County Sheriff’s Office investigators reported one female died and a man was seriously injured in

Deputies say on April 12 at 4:55 p.m., two vehicles were involved in a head-on crash on North Argonne Road in the 7700 block.

Deputies say initial information gained from witness statements and evidence collected at the scene indicates a pickup truck, driven by an adult male, was traveling northbound on North Argonne Road, just north of East Bigelow Gulch Road, while a compact car, driven by an adult female, traveled southbound on North Argonne Road.

As the vehicles approached each other’s location, the female driver of the Cruze crossed over the double yellow center line in a curve and struck the Dodge Ram head-on in the northbound lane.

Deputies say the female driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The male driver was transported to a local hospital with severe but believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies say both drivers wore seatbelts and say there were no indications of impairment. However, speed and inattention are possible contributing factors in this deadly collision.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the decedent’s name, along with her cause and manner of death, at a later time, when appropriate.
