Order issued to stay execution of Idaho’s longest serving death row inmate

BOISE, Idaho – An order has been given to stay the execution of .

According to the Idaho Department of Corrections (IDOC), a Court determined Creech is entitled to a ruling on the merits of his Federal habeas claims and the court needs additional time to fully consider the claims raised.

A briefing for the case will be completed on Nov. 29.

Execution preparations have been suspended and he has been returned to his previous housing assignment per IDOC policy.

In October, with a five to one vote from the Idaho Commission of Pardons and Parole after his attorneys sought to reduce his death sentence.
