OTHELLO, Wash. – An Othello man was indicted Wednesday for allegedly replacing and rolling back odometers in his used vehicles and selling them for an inflated price.
According to the US Department of Justice, Reynaldo Valdez Garza Jr. started selling off the tampered vehicles in May 2023.
Prosecutors claim that he rolled back the odometers on some vehicles by over 100,000 miles before selling them.
Garza Jr. will have the opportunity to defend himself from the allegations in federal court. The investigation which uncovered the purported scheme was undertaken by the National Highway Traffic Administration and Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
