OTHELLO, Wash. – An Othello man was sentenced to federal prison after making threats to kill police officers, having an outstanding warrant, and possessing stolen firearms.
According to the Othello Police Department, Nicholas Romero-Rivera was arrested on March 7, 2023, on outstanding felony warrants. During the arrest, officers obtained a search warrant for his apartment in Othello, where they discovered an AR-15 rifle reported stolen in Othello, a Colt 1911 .45 caliber pistol, ammunition and several loaded magazines. Police said that this led to a subsequent investigation into how Romero-Rivera, a known felon, acquired the firearms.
On Thursday, Romero-Rivera was sentenced to six years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for felon in possession of a firearm, according to police.
