SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Spokane Valley City Council chose one of their own members to serve as Mayor for the next two years at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting.

In a vote of five to two, Pam Haley will serve a second term as the Mayor of Spokane Valley.

While the city manager handles the day-to-day operations of the city, the mayor serves as the head of the city council during meetings, and serves as the city’s figurehead for ceremonial events.

Current Mayor Pam Haley, who took her seat in 2022 from Council Member Ben Wick on a 4-to-3 vote, will be eligible for a second term, along with fellow former Mayors Wick and Rod Higgins.

After the Mayoral vote, city council will also determine the deputy mayor, a position currently held by Higgins.
