WASHINGTON, D.C. – Pete Hegseth’s nomination to lead the Pentagon is encountering resistance due to allegations of drinking and sexual misconduct.
Hegseth, a former Fox News anchor, is meeting with senators to gather support for his confirmation. According to CNN, a top Trump transition source described Wednesday’s meetings as “absolutely critical for Hegseth’s confirmation hopes.
Despite the challenges, Hegseth remains determined. He recently spoke to reporters, expressing his readiness to meet with former President Donald Trump whenever needed.
“Any time he wants a meeting, we’ll meet,” Hegseth said.
When asked about rumors that Ron DeSantis and others might be considered for the role, Hegseth responded, “I spoke to Trump this morning, just a few minutes ago. He supports us fully.”
While Trump appears to stand by Hegseth, NBC News reports that discussions have taken place between the president-elect and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as a potential alternative if Hegseth’s nomination continues to face opposition.
