Pfizer is officially asking the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to approve its COVID-19 vaccine for kids five to 11 years old, NBC News reported.

Right now, the FDA is expected to analyze data for several weeks. This request comes as outbreaks in schools are growing higher and higher.

So far, only people 12 and older are eligible for the Pfizer shot.
