SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – A small plane had to make an emergency landing at a local middle school on Sunday, sparking an investigation.

Around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, a small Cessna 182 plane had to make an emergency landing at Horizon Middle School, just 6 miles short of the nearest airport.

The plane, holding four passengers, avoided any injuries in the crash but received medical attention as a precaution.

The pilot told the Spokane Valley Police Department that the engine “quit” and landing at Felts Field wasn’t possible.

The plane sustained damage when it landed on the middle school’s football field.

The Federal Aviation Administration was notified and is investigating the crash.
