Ponderay police urge residents to call shelters for stray dogs

PONDERAY, Idaho – The Ponderay Police Department is asking residents not to take or contact them about stray dogs due to financial constraints.

The department announced it can no longer assist with stray dogs, including opening the ‘Better Together Animal Alliance’ after hours. Instead, officers recommend calling animal shelters in Ponderay, Priest River, Bonners Ferry, or Hayden for help with stray dogs.

In a supportive move, the department is providing free dog tags to those living in the city.
