Post Falls girl spreads custom kindness with ‘Neighbor Day’ deliveries

POST FALLS, Idaho—On May 30, People living in one Post Falls neighborhood got a special surprise, or as seven-year-old Paityn Corey called it, Neighbor Day.

“I just like to make my neighbors really happy,” Paityn said.

Paityn’s parents said she started making ‘neighbor day’ deliveries when she was four years old. Now, she dedicates multiple days a year to trekking around her street with a full basket in hand, knocking on neighbors’ doors and handing over her homemade baked goods and artwork.

“Would you like a treat? It’s my secret recipe!” Paityn asked every neighbor she encountered Thursday, happy to hand over her custom kindness.

Sometimes, Paityn even bursts into a full-speed run to chase down a neighbor and hand over one of her drawings and her custom-made and custom named ‘chocolate chip nova.’

“It’s just really special that our little girl decided to create something that brings the neighborhood joy on her own,” Paityn’s mom, Brianna Corey, said.

Delivering Paityn’s creations is usually a family affair. Her two younger brothers accompany her around the block and are especially eager to assist with the door-knocking.

“In the winter, we take a sled along,” Brianna said.

Paityn’s father, Matthew, said they couldn’t be more proud of the example their daughter is setting.

“Just to share kindness and joy to others, it’s infectious,” Matthew said.

Paityn said efforts like hers are a great way to be nice to neighbors and in turn, have them be nice to you.

One of Paityn’s neighbors contacted NonStop Local so we could share her shining example of compassion on our platforms. We hope her efforts inspire you to spread kindness, too.
