COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – A Post Falls man has been arrested after firing a gun into an apartment complex, injuring two people.

At around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, the Coeur d’Alene Police Department (CDAPD) arrived at an apartment complex at W. Hanley Ave. and W. Voltaire Ln. and learned that a male fired a handgun several times through the front door of an apartment.

Earlier in the morning, several people were reportedly inside the apartment having a party after spending time at the downtown bars. At one point, one of the males, later identified as 20-year-old Elijah James Hocking, showed a handgun to the people inside; he was then pushed out of the apartment.

Once he was outside, Hocking fired the handgun several times through the door, injuring two people inside the apartment. Hocking then took off from the scene.

CDA Fire crews arrived on the scene to provide aid to the two people with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives were also called to the scene to investigate. During the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Hocking for two counts of Aggravated Battery and one count of Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm at a Dwelling.

SWAT was called to a home in the 4300 Block of North Royal St., where they found Hocking and took him into custody without incident.

Hocking was booked into the Kootenai County Public Safety Building.
