POST FALLS, ID – Post Falls Police officers were involved in a foot pursuit early Monday morning, resulting in the arrest of two teenage males on multiple charges following a reported auto burglary.
The incident, which began Tuesday around 2:30 a.m. in the area of North Lincoln Street and East 13th Avenue, involved the suspects running from officers after a car alarm was triggered.
A citizen alerted police to the suspects attempting to break into a neighbor’s vehicle. When officers arrived, one suspect fled, leading to a chase that spanned several blocks and included jumping fences and running through residential yards. The first teen was apprehended shortly after, and the second was captured a short time later.
According to the Post Falls Police Department, both suspects were intoxicated and one was armed with a handgun. They are linked to several recent auto burglaries in the area and were found in possession of stolen property, including a firearm. Due to their juvenile status, their names are not being released.
The suspects were booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on charges including burglary, possession of stolen property, criminal conspiracy, minor in possession of alcohol, minor in possession of tobacco and curfew violation. Additionally, one juvenile was charged with resisting arrest and the other with carrying a concealed weapon while under the influence.
Later in the day, detectives executed search warrants at the juveniles’ homes and recovered additional stolen property, including another firearm.
The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be filed.
