WASHINGTON – President Joe Biden announced that he is no longer seeking reelection on Sunday.
In a twitter message, Biden thanked the American people for electing him in 2020 and said that it was in the best interest of the county for him to duck out of the race.
“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your president. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the county for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” Biden said.
The move comes after a that that the president lacked the energy to seek a second term.
