BOISE, Idaho — Nez Perce County Prosecutor Justin Coleman announced that his office is against Nicholas Umphenour, a white supremacist gang member, for allegedly murdering a man after escaping from prison.
According to a press release from the Nez Perce County Prosecutor’s Office, the death penalty would be sought for Umphenour, who is accused of killing while on the run from authorities following an incident in Boise.

“Seeking the death penalty is appropriate in this case, considering the defendant’s complete lack of regard for the life of Mr. Mauney,” Coleman said. “We’ll continue to fight in both this case and the co-defendant’s case to get justice for the victim.”
The prosecutor’s office added that Umphenour was transported to the Nez Perce County Detention Facility to face charges of first-degree murder.
A judge has denied bond for Umphenour, and his arraignment is scheduled for Dec. 12 in District Court.
