SPOKANE, Wash. – The United Food and Commercial Workers 3000 have given an official notice that they plan to strike at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center.
From April 22 to 30, over 500 Providence technical staff plan on striking for better wages and benefits.
The strike notice comes after several failed negotiations with the hospital.
Derek Roybal, a member of the union’s negotiating team, hopes that the strike will have a positive impact on the hospital and community.
“The whole intent is to bring people in, to continue to take care of our community and families,” Roybal said.
Providence intends on maintaining operations through the strike.
“The hospital is well prepared for the strike and assures patients and the community that we will remain open with all services continuing,” Providence said.
This is a developing story. More information will appear as available.
