PULLMAN, Wash. — A Pullman home faces nearly $100,000 in damages after a fire on Tuesday.

The Pullman Fire Department said crews responded to the 1200 block of NE Cove Way around 10:40 a.m. The call came from a neighbor who observed smoke coming from the home.

When crews arrived, they observed heavy smoke but no flames. While searching the home, flames broke out near the chimney, but no fire was seen in the living area. PFD said the lower areas of houses tend to be where fires start.

PFD said fire crews contained the fire to the attic, but the home sustained nearly $100,000 in damages.

The cause of this fire remains under investigation.
