STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. – Recreational burn bans will be lifted in Stevens County, according to the sheriff’s office.
According to the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office at 12:01 a.m. on Sept. 20, Stevens County will lift its ban on recreational fires in firepits or fire rings on improved private property.
Deputies said that the fire must be contained in a pit no larger than 3 feet by 3 feet and can only utilize dry, seasoned firewood. The burning of yard debris or field burning remains prohibited. Additionally, deputie said that homeowners are reminded to have water and a shovel readily available for safety.
Campfires on lands managed by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) are permitted only in designated campgrounds. While the recreational fire ban has been lifted, officials caution that many areas remain dry, urging residents to prioritize safety and exercise common sense when using fire.
