SPOKANE, Wash. – The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag warning for parts of Central and Eastern Washington.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Spokane, the warning will encompass areas from Yakima to Pullman, affecting Spokane, the Columbia Basin, Palouse and Snake River. It will be effective from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on June 23.

A Red Flag Warning indicates a heightened risk of fire danger due to warm temperatures, very low humidity levels, and stronger winds expected to combine.

NWS advises people to refrain from parking on dry grass, avoid activities that could create sparks, safely dispose of cigarettes, secure loose chains, properly extinguish campfires and adhere to local burn bans.
