SKAGIT COUNTY, Wash. – Drivers will soon have another option for traveling across the Cascades.
The Washington State Department of Transportation announced on Facebook on Wednesday that North Cascades Highway (SR 20) is set to reopening on Fri., April 19 at 10 a.m.
North Cascades Highway closed for the winter season on Nov. 30, 2023, due to a rainy and snowy forecast which caused an increased risk of avalanches on the highway.
WSDOT notes that drivers should be prepared when traveling on the highway, as Forest Service and National Parks remain closed for the time being and there is no cell service in the area.
Construction projects are also scheduled near mileposts 105 and 150. Drivers are asked to use caution when driving by and to watch for bicyclists due
