INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Republican Mike Braun is aiming to extend the GOP’s 20-year hold on Indiana’s governor’s office. The race pits him against Democrat Jennifer McCormick, a former Republican. They hope to succeed outgoing Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb, who is term-limited. Braun is the wealthy founder of a national auto parts distribution business. Braun opted not to seek a second term in the U.S. Senate to run for governor. McCormick is a former Republican who split with the party after serving as the state’s schools superintendent. Braun was endorsed by former President Donald Trump before May’s GOP primary.
