SPOKANE, Wash. – Mike Kelly, a Republican candidate for State Senator Mike Padden’s (R) current seat, has officially filed to run for the position.
According to his campaign, Kelly served time in federal prison in the early ‘90s for a drug-related conviction.
“Although never partaking himself, Mike chose to involve himself in the financing of transactions involving controlled substances,” Kelly’s campaign website states.
Kelly has lived in the Spokane Valley since 2020, where he works in the private sector.
He has never served in a public elected position, but he was appointed to the Spokane Valley Planning Commission in March. He is a fiscal conservative with a focus on reducing property taxes and reducing cost-of-living expenses.
