Resident missing after home burns down in Newman Lake

NEWMAN LAKE, Wash. — A home was completely destroyed in a fire in Newman Lake, and the person who lives there is missing.

According to the Newman Lake Fire Department (NLFD), crews responded to reports of a house fire just after 2 p.m. on April 30. When they arrived, they saw the home was fully engulfed and called for additional units.

At least 40 firefighters from Newman Lake, Hauser and Spokane Valley are assisting in fighting the blaze.

Newman Lake Fire Chief Daron Bement said the home is destroyed and is a pile of rubble.

While reports to firefighters indicated someone was inside the home, it is unclear if anyone was. This remains an active investigation.
