Ritzville meeting tackles wolves and big cats’ impact on Washington state cattle ranchers

RITZVILLE, Wash. — On Tuesday, a meeting was held in Ritzville to discuss the impact of predatory animals, such as wolves and large cats, on cattle ranchers in Washington State.

According to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, attendees included several sheriffs, ranchers and law enforcement representatives. The Stevens County Sheriff’s Office attended alongside ranchers who reported significant challenges due to predatory animals affecting their livestock. Specialists also shared insights into these issues, emphasizing the need for effective solutions.

According to the sheriff’s office, the meeting focused on balancing ranching needs with wildlife management. Participants, including members of the Washington Cattlemen’s Association and Cattlemen Producers of Washington, underscored the need for stronger support and collaborative solutions to address these concerns.

The aim of the meeting was to explore ways to support ranchers while managing wildlife populations effectively.
