River Park Square hosts Lunar New Year celebrations

SPOKANE, Wash.- River Park Square will host a Lunar New Year celebration on Saturday, Feb. 10 including food, dancing and prizes.

Co-hosted with Spokane United We Stand and the Spokane Chinese Association, the River Park Square Lunar New Year Celebration promises a variety of activities.

The main event will feature dancers who will interact with attendees. A River Park Square press release described what audiences can expect.

“The highlight of the event will be the mesmerizing Dragon Dancers who will weave their way through the crowd, symbolizing good luck and prosperity for the upcoming year,” River Park Square said.

There will also be Taiko Drummers, Taichi, singing from students, and food samples offered by P.F. Chang’s. For more artistic Spokanites, there will also be the opportunity for crafts.

“For those looking to be hands on, there will be a dedicated crafts area where attendees can create a Lucky Cat craft, symbolizing good fortune and prosperity, and a dragon charm you can create with your own unique design to keep forever,” River Park Square.

Red envelopes with special prizes will also be available.

“Attendees will have the chance to receive red envelopes filled with delightful surprises, adding an element of excitement and joy to the festivities – while supplies last,” River Park Square said.

Spokanites hoping to celebrate the Lunar New Year can make their way to River Front Square at 1:30PM for the hour-long event this Saturday.
