SEATTLE, Wash. – Washington state leaders and the FBI are investigating a recent incident at the Islamic Center of Federal Way, where a man reportedly threw rocks through the mosque over the weekend.
This is not the first time the mosque has been targeted. In July 2023, there was a break-in where thieves stole hundreds of dollars in cash.
Imraan Siddiqi, Executive Director of CAIR-WA, emphasized the broader context of such incidents, stating, “It’s workplace discrimination, whether it’s in the school, whether it’s a university, whether it’s somebody being harassed in public, whether it’s a mosque being targeted like this.”
The nonprofit organization also reported a significant increase in calls for help, noting a 200 percent rise from January through June this year.
