Royal City man arrested after barricading himself during standoff

ROYAL CITY, Wash. — A Royal City man was taken into custody after barricading himself inside a home while avoiding arrest on domestic violence charges.

According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began at around noon on Wednesday, when deputies responded to reports of an assault at a home in the 15000 block of Road B-Southeast.

The suspect, 19-year-old Antonio Perez Saquic, was wanted for second-degree assault (domestic violence) and violating a domestic violence protection order. Deputies said they made efforts to persuade him to come out of the house were unsuccessful, prompting the involvement of a tactical response team.

After attempts to gain his surrender, including the use of distraction devices, Saquic was eventually found around 2:30 p.m. hiding under a bed. Deputies said that he was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at the Grant County Jail.
