Salvation Army asks Spokane to give back this holiday season

SPOKANE, Wash, – ‘Tis the season of giving and the Salvation Army Spokane is hoping the community is feeling the same way.

Here are two ways that the Salvation Army Spokane is asking families to give back.

1 – Corporate Kettle Kickoff

From November 12-14 business leaders and employees from across the region will be ringing bells at iconic Red Kettles to raise money for local vulnerable children and families, and fire victims from a year ago. The Salvation Army Spokane is asking you to donate when you pass by.

2 – Adopt-A-Family

From now until Christmas, the Salvation Army Spokane is looking for people who will buy Christmas presents for families in the region who are struggling. Some could be coming out of homelessness while others are dealing with tragedy. All you have to do is fill out a form and the team will contact you after matching you with a family.

The Salvation Army Spokane is collecting Christmas wishes from families to share with donors, who then shop for gifts and wrapping paper before returning to the Salvation Army, who gives it to the family. That way parents get to wrap their children’s gifts, and both parties keep confidentiality.

The Salvation Army says there is always more need in the community so they always need more donors.

If you would like to adopt a family, you can click here to fill out the form to do so: 2024 Adopt-a-Family & Angel Tree Registration

There will also be individual Christmas wishes on trees at Walmart’s, JCPenney’s, Old Navy’s and Safeway’s in the greater Spokane area. Anyone can take a wish, buy the gift in the store and put it in the basket with the wish as they go to leave.

Keep in mind that the Salvation Army Spokane is hoping to receive all gifts by December 16th so they can get them back to the family by December 20th for wrapping.
