Scam alert issued by Benton County Sheriff’s Office in Washington

BENTON COUNTY, Wash. – A scam warning has been issued for residents in the Tri-Cities area of Washington. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office reports that someone is impersonating Commander Clarke and demanding money for an alleged outstanding warrant.

Officials emphasize that while there is indeed a Commander Clarke in the department, he is not involved in these calls. The Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that deputies will never call to request money for tickets or warrants.

Residents who receive such a call are advised to hang up immediately and report the incident to authorities.
