SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A Spokane Valley woman was scammed out of more than $8,000 by a man who posed as “Thomas Jefferson” while promising Gonzaga Men’s Basketball tickets that were never delivered.

According to a press release from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, the victim first contacted the suspect, later identified as 34-year-old Dennis M. Andreasen, in January. Andreasen, using the fake name “Thomas Jefferson,” offered tickets to the games. Over several weeks, he sweetened the deal by adding more tickets and perks while continuously delaying delivery. He eventually demanded additional money, claiming the tickets were not yet available.

Deputies said a family friend, suspicious of the situation, confronted Andreasen in February at WinCo Foods. Andreasen fled the scene but was later identified. While he was questioned by deputies, no charges were filed at the time. Further investigation revealed he had used false names, fake social media profiles, and misleading banking details.

Detectives said that they now have probable cause to charge Andreasen with felony theft, though his whereabouts remain unknown. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Check at 509-456-2233, case number 10017900.
