Second fatality reported in U.S. 95 crash near White Bird

WHITE BIRD, Idaho – A second person has died as a result of Friday night’s car crash on U.S. 95 in White Bird.

According to the Idaho State Police (ISP), a 63-year-old man, a passenger in one of the vehicles involved, succumbed to his injuries following the crash on Nov. 29.

when a 50-year-old man, driving northbound on U.S. 95 near milepost 222, crossed into the southbound lane. A 66-year-old woman from Riggins, driving a Mercedes-Benz southbound with two passengers—a 63-year-old man who later died and a juvenile girl—was struck by the northbound car.

All drivers and passengers were wearing seatbelts, according to ISP. The occupants of the Mercedes-Benz were transported to a local hospital with critical injuries by ground and air ambulances. The 50-year-old driver sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Traffic on U.S. 95 was partially blocked for nearly three hours. The crash remains under investigation.
