OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Office of the Secretary of State announced on Monday that about $2 million is being distributed across 30 elections offices across Washington to improve their elections security.
This is the second year of funding being provided to elections offices, with applications for its third year now open.
“County election officials and employees around the state work hard to ensure our election systems are fair and secure,” said Secretary of State Steve Hobbs. “This additional funding will go a long way to bolster security efforts.”
The funding can be used for purchasing or upgrading elections security software and hardware, hiring IT security personnel, making structural improvements and more. Each county can get up to $80,000 in funding.
NonStop Local has reached out to the Office of the Secretary of State to get the funding totals for specific counties and has yet to receive a response.
