OLYMPIA, Wash. – Senator Patty Murray (D) has slammed Project 2025, a plan to significantly reshape the federal government by increasing the power of the executive branch to implement conservative policies, several times in recent days.
Project 2025 is a framework which would remove many of the current bureaucratic hurdles presidents face for implementing their agendas, including barriers meant to uphold democratic norms.
In an interview on former Trump Administration Chief Strategist Steve Bannon’s podcast, Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts foreshadowed just how influential Project 2025 could be in the of a second Trump term.
“Our side is winning…We are in the process of a second American revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be,” Roberts said.
Murray condemned Roberts’ comments on July 3 and called for voters to place their support behind Biden to avoid the implementation of Project 2025.
“He knows exactly what he’s doing by making these comments, which are downright dangerous. PROTECT DEMOCRACY—use your voice and your vote,” Murray said via social media.
Roberts’ comments come after the Heritage Foundation granted $100,000 to a conservative think-tank to publish a list of federal employees who would be resistant to implementing the agenda of a re-elected President Trump
Murray doubled-down on criticism of Project 2025 on Monday by claiming that former President Trump is personally aware of the plan to reshape the federal government.
“Project 2025 is a radical agenda written by Donald Trump staffers, for Donald Trump. Now he’s pretending he doesn’t know anything about it—that’s a flat-out lie. We cannot let him get away with it,” Murray said.
Trump simultaneously claimed that he was unaware of the project and that he disagreed with some portions of the platform on July 5 on his social media site.
“I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them,” the former president said.
