SPOKANE, Wash. — A chase and arrest of a man accused of reckless driving on roads in Spokane Valley was captured by a camera mounted on a Spokane County Sheriff’s Office helicopter.
Benjamin Farnum, 35, was arrested Wednesday evening after a lengthy chase through Spokane Valley.
According to the sheriff’s office, Farnum didn’t yield to a Spokane Valley deputy, launching the almost hour-long chase.
The helicopter gave real-time updates to police on the ground as those ground units tried to get into position to deploy spike strips. The suspect eventually left his vehicle, ran through a residential neighborhood and jumped into a backyard.
Law enforcement quickly found him and booked him into Spokane County Jail for a set of misdemeanors and felonies.
Farnum was held on a $12,500 bond and remained in jail as of Thursday evening.
