SEATTLE, Wash. – A man was killed in an avalanche on Mount St Helens on Friday.
According to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, the snowboarder was caught while backcountry boarding near the summit.
The boarder triggered a cornice avalanche, which caused him to fall into a crater.
The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating the incident in conjunction with the Northwest Avalanche Center.
