PEND OREILLE, Idaho — The South Pend Oreille Fire and Rescue (SPOFR) announced their new Fire Chief on Saturday.

According to SPOFR, Shane Stocking accepted SPOFR’s formal offer as their next Fire Chief. Stocking has been in the fire service for over 15 years and has experience in multiple fire departments, including California and Florida. He also is a certified Paramedic.

SPOFR said they chose Stocking as the next Chief because of his passion for serving the community. The department believes its new Chief will successfully lead SPOFR crews through positive relationships, communication and cooperation.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join the South Pend Oreille Fire and Rescue family and serve alongside the dedicated volunteers, staff and commissioners,” said Chief Stocking. “This is a special organization that serves with pride and provides invaluable and reliable service to our neighbors. Bringing 15 years of firefighting and paramedic experience, my hope is to make an immediate impact as we ensure SPOFR continues to provide outstanding all-hazards response to Pend Oreille County and the City of Newport.”

Shane Stocking is married with three daughters and has numerous family members in the Spokane and Sandpoint areas.
