SPOKANE, Wash. – The primary runway at Spokane International Airport will close next week for maintenance, causing all flights to use the secondary runway and increasing traffic over the South Hill.
According to the airport, the increased use of the overflow runway from July 22 to 26 will not impact passenger boarding or ground traffic, but those living on the South Hill may notice more planes next week.
“Routine runway maintenance helps maintain a safe operating environment…Projects crews will complete over the next week include removing rubber buildup from the runway, repainting service markings, servicing light sensors and more,” the airport said.
The maintenance comes in the midst of a which has expanded the region’s flight offerings.
