SPOKANE, Wash. – The three fires burning in the Spokane area now 100% contained having burned hundreds of acres and destroyed three homes.
Update August 1 at 7 a.m. – The fire has reached 100% containment and firefighters have turned over operations to local resources who will be patrolling.
The fire burned a total of 252 acres and destroyed 3 homes, 7 outbuildings and damaged one additional home.
Update July 31 at 8 a.m. – Containment has reached 85% after fire crews worked to detect hotspots with infrared cameras.
Fire fighters expect Wednesday to be the last shift working on the fire with mop-ups almost complete.
Original Coverage July 30 at 10 a.m. – The Columbia Basin Fire that started on July 26, has burned over 250 acres and destroyed 3 homes in the process.
Containment has reached 75% as of Tuesday morning and fire crews begin to mop-up along the perimeter of the fire.
Update August 1 at 7 a.m. – The fire is 100% contained and firefighters have turned over operations to local resources who will be patrolling.
Firefighters say they are thankful for the help from residents who worked to reduce fire risk on private property.
The fire burned a total of 44 acers and damaged one outbuilding.
Update July 31 at 8 a.m. – Containment is slow moving at 65% but firefighters expect Wednesday to be their last shift on this fire.
Original Coverage July 30 at 10 a.m. – The Upper Cemetary Fire that also began July 26, has burned just over 40 acers and has not destroyed any homes.
Fire crews also began mopping-up fire perimeters as containment reaches 60%.
Update July 31 at 8 a.m. – The Mullen Hill Road fire is 100% contained and firefighters will be patrolling the area to monitor any possible hot spots. The fire burned 9 acres and did not damage any structures.
Original Coverage July 30 at 10 a.m. – The Mullen Hill Road Fire began on July 28, and is now 50% contained.
Over 45 people attacked the flames which limited its spread to only 9 acres of land and brush. No building were damaged in the fire.
