Spokane Arts announces eight new grant recipients for 2024 projects

SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane Arts has announced eight new recipients of the Spokane Arts Grant Awards (SAGA) in its final funding round for 2024. These grants will support various arts projects and programs in the Spokane region over the next year.

The awarded projects received a total of $54,500 for various local projects. A panel of six people oversaw the process.

Fat Gratitude Productions, a Spokane-based film company, is one of the recipients. They will use the grant to create a feature-length LGBTQ+ romantic comedy.

Bright Comet Theatre will stage “Hadestown: Student Edition,” featuring Spokane students aged 13–19 at North Central High School.

The Finding Human Project will lead community-focused story circle workshops at Holmes Elementary School and Our Place Spokane in conjunction with Spokane Public Schools.

Stage Left Theater Association will host the a theater competition festival.

New Age Warriors, LLC will create a documentary about indigenous youth.

Aimee Brooks will write an anthology book about Spokane.

Spokane Art School will expand its “Art Experience” classes, which offer beginner-friendly arts workshops.

Cori Schuman will create a set of ceramics to be featured throughout the Lilac City.

SAGA funding comes from the City of Spokane Admissions Tax, dedicated to supporting the arts through an ordinance passed in 2016. The next round of SAGA grant applications is due online by June 1.
