SPOKANE, Wash. – AeroFlite, , responded to the call for assistance battling the California wildfires in Los Angeles County.
Thursday and Friday, AeroFlite has sent 5 planes – including both scooper and air tankers – to the region. The U.S. Forest Service contracts these planes across the country, keeping AeroFlite on standby year-round.
Chris Niemann, Aero-Flite’s General Manager, emphasized the importance of their work.
“There is some portion of the country under significant fire danger year-round,” General Manager Chris Niemann said. “It’s very rewarding work.”
This wildfire is a touch personal for Niemann, who spent 23 years living in the area while serving in the Marine Corps.
“My family and I have evacuated many times living in Southern California, so we were very aware of the danger,” he said. “It’s hugely impactful to the families, to the communities, and it takes years to recover.”
