SPOKANE, Wash. – The downtown Spokane Public Library will showcase its peer support resources at the annual Peers Empower Peers Conference June 1.

The conference will highlight the ways the central library works with a diverse range of patrons with unique needs. Executive Director Andrew Chanse views the central library as a microcosm of the wider community and associated socioeconomic realities.

“We see firsthand the variety of community members that make up the greater Spokane area, whether they’re families attending storytime, unhoused individuals seeking resources, or young entrepreneurs visiting the Business Lab,” Chanse said.

Attendees will be able to access educational workshops including a keynote presentation from Spokane Police Department officer Richie Plunkett.

Unhoused community members will be able to access free showers, clothing and haircuts.

Free lunch will be available to everyone and prizes will also be offered. Those hoping to attend should plan to be at the library at some point between 10am and 3:30pm.
