Spokane City Council members react to Biden dropping from presidential race

SPOKANE, Wash. – After the explosive announcement from President Joe Biden that and Sunday, two Spokane City Council members threw their opinions into posted on social media.

Council Member Jonathan Bingle, struck a distinctly religious tone when reacting to Biden’s exit from the presidential race.

“America is the shining light on a hill and must be led by people who believe in her greatness and the divine providence that has guided her throughout the years. I pray for good leaders to rise up throughout the nation,” Bingle said.

Council Member Zach Zappone shared an image of himself with Biden and highlighted the president’s

“Spokanites benefited from the infrastructure investments, expanding our airport, replacing bridges, and implementing rapid transit. Prescription drug prices were lowered, including capping the price on insulin,” Zappone said.

Zappone and Bingle were the only two council members to offer statements on the reshaped presidential race as of Sunday at 4:30 p.m..

Neither offered their thoughts on Vice President Harris’ announcement that she is running for president, but Zappone did voice his support for whoever becomes the Democratic challenger.

“I look forward to supporting our next nominee to focus on defeating Donald Trump,” Zappone said.
