SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane County Prosecutor has determined that the .
Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputy , which occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 14, 2023, at East 10th Avenue in Spokane Valley.
According to the press release, the woman involved lived in the home with her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Robinson. The prosecutor’s office noted a history of domestic violence between the two, including a current no-contact order against Robinson and an arrest warrant for violating that order.
Investigators stated that earlier that evening, the woman called her father, Richard, reporting that Robinson was at her house and there was trouble between them. Richard called 911 around 6:15 p.m., informing dispatchers that Robinson was present, had broken a door, and was not leaving her alone. Vanessa was trying to get Robinson to leave. Richard lives just a few blocks away. Probable cause was established for first-degree burglary, a violent felony.
Police reported that the woman later walked into her father’s house and informed him that Robinson had left her home, but his current whereabouts were unknown. She soon returned to her own home, where Robinson also reappeared, leading to renewed conflict. The woman informed her father that Robinson was now armed with a gun and had also grabbed a razor and a pocketknife, initially appearing to threaten self-harm.
Robinson instructed the woman to call 911, claiming he would tell her what to say when dispatchers answered. At 7:20 p.m., he called 911, pretending to be Vanessa, and told dispatchers that “she” was being held at gunpoint by her boyfriend and to “please send somebody!”
Deputies were dispatched, with Gosline and another deputy being the first to arrive. Upon arrival, they peered through a large window into the living room and observed Robinson physically confronting the woman while yelling at her.
Investigators reported that both deputies ran toward the front door. Gosline knocked several times. From inside, woman yelled, “Dallas, no!” or “Dallas, go!” and panickedly screamed, “Open the door!” As Gosline began to open the front door, Robinson was seen raising a gun and pointing it at the deputies. Gosline fired his rifle three times, striking Robinson. The woman was evacuated from the house unharmed. Robinson was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He currently faces criminal charges for his actions against the woman that night.
The prosecutor’s office said that subsequent investigations revealed Robinson was armed with a BB gun, which “closely resembled an actual semi-automatic handgun.”
