SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane County Game Commission will honor officer Warden Herbert Minnick with a memorial sign Saturday.
Minnick was shot at Bell’s Corner near Rockford on Oct. 19, 1932 while checking a pheasant hunter for his license. The hunter accidentally shot Minnick with a shotgun while reaching into his pocket to grab his hunting license.
Minnick was a World War I army veteran and a longtime Spokane County resident. The sign honoring him will stand near where he was shot over 90 years ago.
