Spokane County Medical Examiner identifies victim in fatal Elk car crash

ELK, Wash. – The Spokane County Medical Examiner has identified the man who died after crashing into a tree in Elk.

The medical examiner’s office identified him as Sean Boyer, 38, and reported that the cause of death was blunt force injuries to the head and extremities.

, around 2 p.m. at the intersection of East Nelson Road and North Jackson Road.

According to a spokesperson from Spokane County Fire District 4, the driver missed a turn, hit a rock, and crashed into a tree on East Nelson Road while approaching a curve in the 15000 block. Emergency medical and fire units responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

An air ambulance was initially dispatched but was canceled after the individual was declared dead.

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office stated that speed and failure to properly wear a seat belt are believed to be contributing factors in this fatal crash.
