SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane County Medical Examiner has released the identity and cause of death of the man involved in the Mead shooting earlier this week.
The victim has been identified as Justin Daniel, 40, who died at a home on North Wilson Court Saturday, April 13.
The medical examiner’s office said Daniel’s death was caused by stab wounds, incised wounds, and gunshot wounds, with the manner of death classified as homicide.
The suspect of the shooting is , who is currently facing first-degree-murder and other charges in connection to his death.
The two were involved in a custody battle involving a young child they have in common.
Daniel’s family started an online fundraiser in support of his children’s future.
“He fought to keep his girls safe. And was ultimately cut short of his life due to a gruesome domestic violence crime. His brother Josh and sister-in-law Tessa have taken the steps to make sure his youngest baby is safe, and loved beyond measure and insuring all of his children are taken care of.” said Sarah on behalf of the Daniel family in the fundraiser.
