SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – Spokane County will close most of its offices and departments on Thursday, to honor the death of former President Jimmy Carter.
This decision follows President Biden’s Executive Order issued on Dec. 30 which closes Executive Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government as a mark of respect for Carter’s official state funeral.
The Spokane County Board of Commissioners voted to recognize Jan. 9 as a Spokane County holiday. However, some exceptions will apply.
The Spokane County Regional Solid Waste System and transfer stations will remain open. Scheduled court dates in Superior and District Courts will also follow as planned.
All Spokane County offices and departments will resume regular business hours on Friday..
