Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputy stabbed during welfare check

DEER PARK, Wash —A Spokane County Sheriff’s deputy was seriously injured and stabbed during a welfare check today.

According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. in the 24000 block of North Dalton Avenue.

Upon arrival in the 3900 block of West Wild Rose Road, deputies said they quickly requested emergency backup. The woman was subsequently taken into custody, but medics were also needed for the deputy, who had been stabbed during the incident.

The deputy was transported to a hospital with a stab wound to his upper left chest. Deputies said he is currently in stable condition and continues to receive medical care.

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect will face felony charges. The Spokane Police Department said they are assisting with the investigation as well.
