SPOKANE, Wash. – Zeus, a Spokane County Sheriff’s Office K9, died unexpectedly on April 25.
According to the sheriff’s office, the deputy who handled Zeus found the K9 had died in his sleep in his kennel overnight when he reported for work last Thursday morning.
“K9 Zeus joined the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit in December 2019 and was almost nine years old when he tragically passed away, leaving behind a legacy of service and loyalty,” the office said.
The Spokane County K9 Unit is utilized for enhancing detection at crime scenes, locating disaster victims, finding narcotics and detecting explosives according to the K9 unit’s website.
