SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – The Spokane County Superior Court is set to host a Color of Justice event for middle school students from the Inland Northwest.
This engaging event will take place on January 17, 2024, and aims to introduce students to potential careers within the legal system.
The Spokane City Municipal Court and the Kalispel Tribal Court will also participate in welcoming students from four different school districts.
Students from Mead School District, Cheney School District, Freeman School District, and Cusick School District will have the opportunity to explore legal careers.
The event is organized by the National Association of Women Judges (NAWJ) and is designed to encourage underrepresented populations to consider a career in law.
It provides students with the chance to learn from professionals in the judicial system and to see them as mentors.
Judge Jacquelyn High-Edward of the Spokane County Superior Court expressed excitement about the event.
“We are thrilled to have the students join us at the courthouse to learn about the law and how to become a lawyer from judges, lawyers, and law students,” she said.
“It is important for our community to have a diverse legal community that can enrich our legal system.”
